A sampling of community projects by Atlantic Realty:
Christmas in July, July 2006
The Plaza America Family 5K Run/Walk, May 2005 - Atlantic Realty annually sponsors the Plaza America Family 5K Run/Walk, to benefit the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. As part of its five-year commitment to raise $750,000 for the Joseph E. Robert, Jr. Center for Surgical Care, Atlantic has raised $600,000 from the 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 races. The fourth annual 2005 Run/Walk took place on Sunday May 15th at Plaza America, located at Sunset Hills Road in Reston, Virginia. In addition to individual donorship, there are five levels of corporate sponsorship, as well as opportunities for volunteering on race day. Over 1,000 runners participants of all ages and skill levels, along with another 1,000 spectators, came out to support the event which offered cash prizes totaling $2,000 and is ranked third on the top 25 most competitive 5K races in the DC Metro area. Adopt-A-Family, December 2002 & 2003 - Spreading the holiday cheer by providing new clothing and other gifts for families in need. Atlantic Realty’s donations have helped families of Northern Virginia Family Services who often have no local support and are of low-income means. “Adopting” these five families provides them the opportunity for a joyful celebration during the holidays. Toys for the Kids at INOVA, October 2003, October 2004 & June 2005 - Donations were delivered to patient beds at Children’s Hospital, ranging in age from infants to teens. Donations included stuffed animals crayons, books, coloring books, play dough, cards, games, journals and lotions. This was a great success for the Hospital, the parents and their children. Christmas in July, July 2003 – Atlantic Realty has adopted a local teen shelter, Alternative House, for its Christmas in July project. As this shelter is run completely from private donations, Atlantic collected food, clothing, games, cleaning supplies, videos, toiletries, and yard tools during the month of July and donated to Alternative House on July 31st. Fans For Families, May 2003 - For low income families in Fairfax County that do not have air conditioning during the hot summer days, Atlantic collected cash donations and fans during the week of May 5-9. The proceeds were delivered for distribution to the Fairfax County Child Protection Services Department at Fairfax Government Center on May 20th.
